Easy Spelt Flour Recipes for Beginners – From Pancakes to Banana Bread

Many of my followers have asked if I feel nervous about starting to bake with spelt flour and what recipes they should begin with. When I first started baking with spelt flour over 15 years ago, I chose to make my favourite go-to recipes: banana bread, chocolate brownies, pancakes, and carrot cake. My husband loved them, and my friends couldn’t even tell the difference!

I'd recommend beginning with your favourite recipes. Spelt flour can easily replace wheat flour in most of them, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well it works!

Spelt flour pancakes

When you cook pancakes no oven is needed. No oil is needed if you use a non-stick fry pan. Make these with your choice of milk and they are perfect with either white spelt flour, or wholegrain spelt flour.

Fluffy Spelt Pancakes + Oat Milk

Fluffy spelt pancakes with oat milk are a favourite in our home. With a hint of cinnamon, this is a lovely addition to the sweet and slightly nutty flavour of spelt. No added butter or sugar and this recipe work well for anyone lactose intolerant.
