Ingredients
- Flaxseeds – 40g (1/4 cup)
- Chia seeds – 40g (1/4 cup)
- Sunflower seeds – 30g (1/4 cup)
- White sesame seeds – 75g (1/2 cup)
- Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds – 35g (1/4 cup)
- Ground cumin (optional) – 1/2 ts
- Paprika (optional) – 1/2 ts
- Salt – 1/2 ts
- Hot water, boiling – 175g (3/4 cup + 4 tablespoons)
Method
- Preheat oven 160˚C or 140˚C fan. Line a large baking tray with paper.
- Mix all seeds and spices then pour over the hot water to create a gel-like binder. This will mean you don't need flour or oil to bind together. Rest for 15 minutes for everything to come together.
- Use a large spoon to spread the seed mixture to about 1/8 inch thick (0.3cm) about a small coin thickness.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, check at 40 minutes if it is browning too quickly.
- Remove once golden and allow to cool down completely before breaking into pieces with your hands.
- Store in a sealed container or gift bag for up to two weeks
- Perfect with dips and cheese and suitable for both vegan and gluten-free guests.
