Ingredients

  • Flaxseeds – 40g (1/4 cup)
  • Chia seeds – 40g (1/4 cup)
  • Sunflower seeds – 30g (1/4 cup)
  • White sesame seeds – 75g (1/2 cup)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds – 35g (1/4 cup)
  • Ground cumin (optional) – 1/2 ts
  • Paprika (optional) – 1/2 ts
  • Salt – 1/2 ts
  • Hot water, boiling – 175g (3/4 cup + 4 tablespoons)

Method

  1. Preheat oven 160˚C or 140˚C fan. Line a large baking tray with paper.
  2. Mix all seeds and spices then pour over the hot water to create a gel-like binder. This will mean you don't need flour or oil to bind together. Rest for 15 minutes for everything to come together.
  3. Use a large spoon to spread the seed mixture to about 1/8 inch thick (0.3cm) about a small coin thickness.
  4. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, check at 40 minutes if it is browning too quickly.
  5. Remove once golden and allow to cool down completely before breaking into pieces with your hands.
  6. Store in a sealed container or gift bag for up to two weeks
  7. Perfect with dips and cheese and suitable for both vegan and gluten-free guests.
